Evan Honer Continues To Prove Wise Beyond His Years In Introspective Sophom*ore Record ‘Fighting For’ (2024)

Evan Honer has been one of the more prolific singer/songwriters in country music over the past couple of years, but he’s not sacrificing quality for quantity.

Honer, who grew up in Arizona but now calls Nashville home, came out of nowhere onto the scene in December 2022 when he teamed up with frequent collaborator Julia DiGrazia for his debut release – a cover of Tyler Childers’ unreleased fan-favorite “Jersey Giant” that has since amassed more than 60 million streams on Spotify alone. In roughly a year and a half since, Honer released his 13-track debut albumWest on I-10 in 2023, amidst several other EPs and singles, and has now added his sophom*ore project to the catalog.

Released last week, Honer’s latest record Fighting For, features 16 tracks, many of which were well-received single releases, that push a bigger and better sound than what we are use to hearing yet fit right in with the rest of his generally stripped-back catalog. Most importantly, though, Honer’s latest work demonstrates his uncanny knack for introspective songwriting. Wearing his heart on his sleeve in each song, Honer’s clever lyricism and passionate vocalism will rope any listener in and will keep them captivated through his relatable song content.

Without further ado, checkout the track list to Evan Honer’s latest project Fighting For below, with links to the songs that weren’t previously released as singles included, though I highly recommend listening from start to finish to fully gain an appreciation fro Honer’s songwriting on this project.

“Nowhere Fast”

“Brother”

“I Figured We’d Go Dancing”

“Mr. Meyers”

“Take Me As I Come” ft. Wyatt Flores

“I Hope That’s All You Need”

“Empty On The Inside”

“Wake Up, Come Down”

“Greetings from Tulsa, Oklahoma”

“Losing Faith”

“A Thousand Times”

“Easier”

“Someone You Don’t Know”

“idk sh*t about cars”

Fighting For”

“Take The Sunrise”

Released via his own label Cloverdale Records, it’s clear that Honer’s latest work his some of his best thus far in his nascent career. And there’s plenty more where that came from, too, with tons of unreleased songs posted to his YouTube account as well.

Prolific and proficient all at the same time, Honer has proved wise beyond his years as a songwriter and established himself as one of the leading forces on the next generation’s up and coming songwriter scene.

In tandem with the brand new albumFighting For, Honer has also announced his first major headlining tour, with an extensive schedule that features over thirty shows across the country this summer and heading into the fall. Honer is fresh off of an awesome European tour as well, and while I haven’t had the opportunity to see him live yet, I’m sure the band and live show are in perfect shape for the road that lays ahead of them.

If Evan Honer is coming to a city near you, that’s a can’t miss show.
