This author's shortest multi-chapter story at just over 85k words and 9 chapters, but it covers the territory pretty well, getting rid of evil Dumbledore in chapter 2, then setting right many of the things Dumbledore had done wrong (including sending the last remnant of Tom Riddle/Voldemort through the veil with no fuss before Harry even starts his first year at Hogwarts in chapter 7), and going through Harry's school years at a vastly improved Hogwarts, marriage, career, and eventual death after a lifetime of healing, helping, and teaching, to be reunited at last with his "Grandpa Iggy" (Ignotus Peverell, the 'Old Friend' in the title) and "Uncle Thanatos" (Death). Very satisfying and comparatively quick read.

OTHER, MUCH LONGER WORKS BY SINYK:

Angry Harry and the Seven, COMPLETE, 490k words, 87 chapters, Harry/Daphne: 'Just how will Dumbledore cope with a Harry who is smart, knowledgeable, sticks up for himself and, worst still, is betrothed? A Harry who has a penchant for losing his temper?'

[Harry has an eidetic memory, lots of power, lots of scars and health problems, and major anger issues due to his perfect recall of what various people had done to him even in infancy, exacerbated by having lived with a piece of Voldemort in his head until the night of September 1, 1991. It's a satisfying read, for the most part, as Dumbledore keeps getting slapped down, each time he tries to regain control of his 'weapon' or refuses to acknowledge the depths of his own wrong-doing. This is the one where Harry and Daphne run an etiquette club at Hogwarts, Hermione's discovered to be the Heir of Dagworth-Granger, Harry AND Neville kill the basilisk together, Harry manages to get Crouch Sr to emancipate him AND void the whole Goblet of Fire contract so that he never has to face a dragon (thanks in part to good advice from lawyer Dewey Scroohem!), finishes off Riddle/Voldemort and all his little horcruxes and becomes Lord Gryffindor AND Lord Slytherin by the end of chapter 74, and lives in the Hogwarts owners' suites with his friends for his last 3 years at school.

Fair Warning: This story has even more editing problems than other, later works by Sinyk, perhaps as a result of its longer length and various revisions that must've taken place over the course of its writing, with major inconsistencies especially in the early chapters (like what Amelia Bones knew and when, that's somehow forgotten later on), or oversights like in one of the late chapters where Draco attacks Harry when he's boarding his private owner's car on the Hogwarts Express, and Harry takes Draco's wand and says he'll handle the matter at that night's sorting feast, but there's no follow-up at all, and Draco is somehow still a student and in possession of his wand when he later attempts something even worse. Still, it's worth reading.]

Harry Potter and the Daft Morons, UNFINISHED (but still worth reading, as the 2 dark lords in Harry's life are dead and gone by chapter 64, and the rest is trying to improve society in the aftermath), 745k words, 84 chapters: 'At the first task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament Harry sees his chance to strike down his enemies - and takes it. Here is a Harry who knows how to think and reason. Really Bash!AD, EWE, Clueful!HP. Eventual HP/HG/DG/FD, NL/HA/SB, and others. Unapologetically!AU.'

[This is the one where Harry has been PRETENDING to be clueless, to string Albus and others along until he has enough evidence to gain the upper hand, but he finally drops all pretense during the first task and starts demonstrating that most magicals are 'daft morons' who can't see what's right in front of them or reason their way out of a wet paper bag. Using a pensieve to display his memories of all the stupid, abusive, life-threatening experiences he's suffered so far at Hogwarts to the entire crowd while they're forced to stay silent lest they 'hinder' him in considering how to go about getting the dragon's egg, Harry lays out a damning case against Dumbledore and many others. This is also the one with Harry suffering from a mild form of Asperger's Syndrome and therefore immune to most mind-control magic, Lords' apartments in Hogwarts, very active Unspeakables, a Potter/Longbottom Alliance (and especially a selfish Augusta Longbottom) that Harry has to smack into shape, a long-lost Malfoy heiress who's been healed and raised by muggles in Australia, and a 'tapestry circle' formed by Pureblood ladies who are sick of losing babies because of male-ordered inbreeding.]
