I'm a little worried and looking (again 😭) for reassurance. I went for a pregnancy massage and ended up lying in a really awkward position for quite some time. I was on my side (knees bent and to the side from the hip) but had my shoulders almost square / flat. I feel like I was twisted in a weird position for quite some time but eventually I did turn completely on my side. it was enough that my one shoulder was a little stiff after. I feel so stupid because I know twists are off limits I just didn't think about it at the time I was so worried about not being too flat.

I'm so worried that my position could have impacted the blood flow through the cord and caused some kind of damage to the baby :(

I suppose this is a question that only a doctor can answer and will only be ascertainable once baby is born but I'm going crazy with anxiety and guilt.

I hope that this position is not off limits! I slept like that my whole first pregnancy and I am doing it again this pregnancy. I get bad carpal Tunnel when pregnant and this helps to relieve symptoms. I've brought it up to my practitioners and no one has an issue

This is how I was laying during a facial and halfway through I had to switch the the other side because it was so uncomfy. I spoke to my doctor and she kind of giggled and told me I can lay however I need to/want to as long as I’m not sleeping through the night on my back.

Not sure how much this helps but in my prenatal yoga classes, the twisting just needs to stay above the belly. So shoulders/chest can twist but belly should remain pointed forward. I’m sure you were fine!

I think the no twisting advice is more for abdominal exercises, to avoid diastasis recti. I don’t think it’s related to the baby’s health.
