RVC employees receive a number of benefits, including the opportunity to work in a creative, dynamic and exciting environment. Some of the benefits we offer are detailed below:

Annual Leave

All employee Grades are entitled to 30 days annual leave as a minimum (pro-rata for part-time staff). In addition, we offer up to fourRVC 'closure' days, normally taken at Christmas, as well as recognising the eight UK public holidays. Apple Products Discount

Anybody who works in the education sector qualifies for a discount on Apple computers. It's not just limited to students, teachers and lecturers, but also covers all other staff members. Essentially it's anybody who works for a school, college or university.

Central London Location

Set in the heart of London, our Camden Campus is the principle location for first and second year veterinary undergraduates, The Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital and parts of the RVC’s central administration. It boasts a state of the art Learning Social Space (the Lightwell), refurbished research laboratories, an extensive library and an anatomy museum, and is within easy access of the bars, restaurants and theatres of London’s West End as well as London St Pancras International Station. Childcare Vouchers (Childcare Plus)

The RVC Childcare Voucher Scheme, administered by Edenred, has now closed and we are unable to accept any new entrants to the scheme.You may still be entitled to tax free childcare which is now administered directly through the Government website. On this website, you will be able to check your eligibility, make an application and find out more information on help available to pay for childcare.If you are currently in the Edenred scheme, you can stay in it so long as you remain employed by the RVC and do not take an unpaid career break of longer than a year.

Development and Training

TheRVC is committed to providing learning and development opportunities for every employee. We will offer you:

  • mentoring and coaching
  • in-house training programmes covering topics such as IT, management development, presentation and communication skills
  • a supportive environment in which to expand your skills on the job

On-site Gym

At Hawkshead, there is a variety of equipment ready for use similar to that which you would find in any commercial gym, as well as dedicated shower and changing facilities integral to the gym, and a drinking fountain. We are open 6:30am-10pm on weekdays and 10am-3pm on weekends.You don’t access the gym with your staff or student card. The door to the hallway automatically turns on and off at opening and closing times.The induction is linked with creating an account for XN.

There is also a similar on-site gym at the Camden Campus.

Eligibility for COSTCO Membership

RVCstaff have the ability to apply for COSTCO membership. COSTCO is a retail wholesaler (food/clothes/electrical goods) where membership allows the customer to save a significant amount of money when purchasing items in bulk. Please visit the the COSTCOwebsite for further information.

Financial Advice Service

The Royal Veterinary College has a long established partnership with DGS Chartered Financial Planners Ltd. The advisers from DGS offer a completely independent advisory service and arrangements can be made for a representative to visit you either on site or, in some cases, at home.

DGS can assist in the following areas:

  • Analysing your pension benefits - whether you are a member of USS or SAUL;
  • Decisions relating to existing pensions from previous employers;
  • Understanding your employee benefits, such as the protection you receive as an employee;
  • Investigating if your savings could work harder;
  • Inheritance tax planning;

Family Friendly Policies

Free Access to our Counselling Service and Free Information & Advice Service

RVCstaff have access to a free and confidential 24 hour counselling service. In addition, staff also have access to the CareFirst free Information and Advice Service. Please visit the CareFirstpage for further information (available toRVC employees only).

Give as You Earn (GAYE)

Give as You Earn is a tax efficient way of giving to a charity of your choice via a Payroll deduction.

If you don't have a particular cause in mind that you want to support today, you can still add contributions to your charity account and use these when the time is right for you.

You can make donations on a regular basis, or as a one-off payment.

You will need some personal information and your national insurance number to complete the application form, as well as your Payroll Number (UID No on your staff security pass), and the process takes less than 3 minutes to complete.

Free Mini-bus Service

RVCstaff travelling between Campuses have access to our minibus service between Potters Bar station and the Hawkshead Campus. The minibus runs regularly throughout the working day. For details on minibus times, please visit the Minibus TimetableIntranet page for further information.

NUS extra is Now called TOTUM

AllRVC staff (with a rvc.ac.uk e-mail address) can purchase an NUS extra card, now re-branded asTOTUM, for £12 for 12 months (£22 for 2 years, £32 for 3 years) which gives access to numerous exclusive offers and discounts from many popular retailers including Co-op supermarkets, Amazon and Pizza Express. O2 Employee and Membership perks scheme

O2 Open gives employees 25% off airtime plans with 3GB or above date and 15% off airtime plans below 3GB. This is across all Refresh 24 month Pay Monthly voice and Mobile Broadband tariffs, and does not apply to SIM only deals. For further information, visit your local O2 shop and they will help you choose the right deal. Please take ID/proof that you work for the RVC, two proofs of identity – e.g. driving licence, recent utility bill, valid passport or council tax bill if you wish to buy a contract phone. If you wish to keep your current number, take your PAC code with you, which you should receive from your current provider, and bank or credit card details will be required to complete the direct debit mandate. On-site Car Parking at our Hawkshead Campus

On-site Sports Facilities at our Hawkshead Campus

RVCstaff can make use of our on-site gyms at both campuses. At our Hawkshead Campus there are also tennis courts and football/rugby/cricket fields.

Pension Scheme

We offer competitive and attractive pensions packages in the form of two excellent occupational pension schemes. We also offer PensionPlus- a Salary Sacrifice method of paying for your pension that means you are likely to see an increase in your take-home pay.

The pension schemes are the Superannuation Arrangements for the University of London (SAUL) and Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). Participation in which scheme depends on the grade of the job. Season Ticket Loan for Rail Tickets

Staff Refectory

RVCstaff can make use of the staff refectory at each of our campuses, which offer a range of hot and cold food throughout the day. Both campuses also have a cafe, where staff can purchase hot and cold drinks as well as small snacks.
