Ingredients You’ll Need

  • White Chocolate Wafers – White chocolate wafers are readily available in most grocery stores, but you can also use white chocolate bars, chips, or melting discs as alternatives. I use Ghirardelli white chocolate wafers.
  • Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – The mini cups are perfect for hats, but you can get creative and use a different candy for the hats, if you want.
  • Wilton Candy Eyes – You can purchase these edible candy eyes from baking supply stores, craft stores, or online. If unavailable, use small chocolate chips or even small round candies as a creative replacement.
  • Orange Jimmies – If you’ve never heard this term, it’s what we call the longer-style of sprinkles. You can buy just orange ones, or pick them out of a colorful mix. These ones are perfect.
  • Red Pearl Sprinkles – I used these red pearl sprinkles that I bought on Amazon. Other options are red confetti sprinkles or Red Hots.
  • Pretzel Sticks – Cut each stick in half for the arms.

Tips for Making Melted Snowman Chocolate Bark

  • We found it was easiest to cut the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups at room temperature with a small paring knife. You might have to practice a few times to get it right.
  • You can pour or scoop the white chocolate onto the parchment paper, then smooth it out with the back of a spoon.
  • Get creative with your snowman’s features! Use licorice strings for scarves, mini chocolate chips for mouths, or even gummy candies for hats. The possibilities are endless, so let your imagination run wild.

How to Make White Chocolate Snowmen

Step 1: Make the Hats

It’s a good idea to start by making the hats, so they are ready when you spread the chocolate. You can make any style hat you like.

I start by cutting the cups in half so you have two equal sides. Then cut the wide brim off (about 1/3 of the cup). To make it look like a hat, fit the pieces back together, offset a slight bit.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat and set aside.

Step 2: Temper the Chocolate

To melt the chocolate, place the wafers in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir it. Continue cooking in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until it’s mostly melted. Then remove it from the microwave and stir the chocolate until it’s completely smooth. If you microwave it until it’s fully melted, you risk burning it.

Step 3: Making the Snowmen

Pour the melted chocolate into 6 puddles on the baking sheet and, working quickly, spread it out with the back of a spoon. Quickly top each with a hat, eyes, nose, and buttons. Set the decorations on in varying patterns so they don’t all look the same.

Allow the chocolate to cool and firm up for at least 1 hour. You can put them in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

They will easily peel off the parchment paper and can be set on a serving plate for presentation.

How to Store

Place the Melted Snowman Chocolate Bark in an airtight container or zip-top bag. They can be stored at room temperature for several weeks, making it a convenient make-ahead treat for parties and gifting. However, if you live in a particularly warm or humid climate, it’s advisable to store it in a cooler place or in the refrigerator to prevent the chocolate from melting.

Questions About the Recipe

How do I prevent the white chocolate from seizing when melting it?

Seizing can occur if water or steam comes into contact with the chocolate. Make sure your equipment is completely dry, and use low, gentle heat when melting, whether using a microwave or a double boiler. Stir frequently and avoid overheating. Sometimes older chocolate will seize no matter what, so always buy your chocolate fresh.

How thick do I make the chocolate puddles?

You can make the snowmen as thick or thin as you like. I aim for about 1/8-1/4″ thick because I find that most people don’t like to eat a thicker piece. If you make them much thinner, they aren’t as easy to hold without breaking in half.
