A6 Madison Courier Tuesday, February 7, 2023 OBITUARIES Juanita Giltner Juanita Hysell Giltner, 75, of Vevay, Indiana, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at her residence. She was born on May 14, 1947, to Merideth Donald and Doris M. Brindley Hysell of Vevay. She lived in the Vevay area until moving to Tell City, Indiana, in 1963.

She was a majorette with the Vevay band, a member of student council her freshmen year, a member of the choir, drill team and she enjoyed bowling and roller skating. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church. During her early years in Tell City, she enjoyed softball, bowling, roller skating and water skiing and later enjoyed camping, cross stitching, reading and working in her yard and being with nature. She was a member of Tell City Chapter 272 Order of the Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron from 1975-1976 and held the station of Adah for several years prior and after being Worthy Matron. She worked at Commercial Filters for eight years before going to Willamette Industries starting in 1981 where she was a quality control paper tester.

In the mid-90s she began traveling with trips to Egypt, a safari in Kenya, the Holy Lands in Israel, Costa Rica, England, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Bahamas among others as well as several locations in the Unites States. She purchased land in 2012 to build her retirement home in Vevay and moved in to her home in 2015. She became active with the Vevay Girls, the Vevay American Legion Post 185 Ladies Auxiliary and rekindled many of her high school friendships. Survivors include her daughter, Sami Giltner Mottet; and three grandchildren, Malia Mottet, Clarice Mottet and Andrew Mottet. She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Haskell Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery there. Visitation is from 11 a.m.

until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. Mary Horine Mary Ann Pyles Horine, 80, of Hanover, Indiana, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.

She was born on Sept. 28, 1942, in Bedford, Kentucky, to Webb Suter and Dorothy Laverne Joyce Pyles. She was raised in Trimble County and was a 1961 graduate of Trimble County High School. She married Donald Truman Horine on June 29, 1963, in Hanover, Indiana, and they resided in the Madison and Hanover area and had two daughters. She had worked at the old Conn Organ factory as a keyboard technician for six years.

She attended Ivy Tech College for a certified daycare associate certificate. She operated a daycare business in her home for 12 years and worked at the Hanover College Daycare for 17 years. She was a member of Hanover Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 59 years of Hanover; her daughters, Tina Ann Girard of Ashland, Ohio and Tammy Dawn Ruebusch of Hanover; her brothers, Joyce Suter Pyles and Gayle Norman Pyles, both of Bedford, Carroll Eugene Pyles of Campbellsburg, Kentucky and Douglas Lee Pyles of Madison; her sisters, Norma Jean Condrey and Claudette R. Kramer, both of Hanover; and two grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at Hanover Baptist Church in Hanover. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton.

Nancy Howard Nancy Caryl Skirvin Howard, 83, of Madison, Indiana, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at Norton Health in Madison. She was born on May 9, 1939, in Owen County, Kentucky, to Walter J. and Gratia Kemper Skirvin. She was raised in Owen County and graduated in 1957 from Owen County High School.

She married Harold Lee Howard on Aug. 11, 1958, in Warsaw, Kentucky, and they had a son and a daughter. She was a Southern Baptist and enjoyed sewing, quilting, paper crafting and scrap-booking. She worked for Madison State Hospital as a psychiatric attendant for several years. Her family settled in Ripley County in July 1960 and she began a career with the U.S.

Shoe Corporation in 1963, working at the Madison and Osgood plants as a shoe cutter before retiring in 1995. She loved the outdoors, the sunshine, hummingbirds, cardinals and butterflies. Survivors include her son, Gregory L. Howard of Pawnee, Illinois; her daughter, Leisa Howard of Madison; a brother, L.J. Skirvin of Sparta, Kentucky; three sisters, Betty Harrison and Judy Hearne, both of Owenton, Kentucky and Brenda Martin of Sparta; and three grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years on Jan. 3, 2016; two sisters, Evelyn Ann Ballard, on Oct. 30, 2016 and Ruby Dean Bramblett, on July 12, 2022; a brother, Bobby Gene Skirvin, on June 3, 2020; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 6, at the Morgan Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.

Interment was in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Online condolences and memorials, www. David Robinson David Earl Robinson, 62, of Louisville, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, at University of Louisville Health-Mary and Elizabeth Hospital there.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1960, in Cincinnati, to Earl Robinson Jr. and Nancy Ann Hornsby Robinson. He served in the US Army and was an avid Elvis Pressley fan. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Robinson Hunt of Richmond, Virginia; a brother; Darrell Robinson of Jeffersonville, Indiana; three grandchildren; Dylan Earl Hunt, Ashleigh Elizabeth Hunt and Avery Marie Martin, all of Richmond; and two nieces, one great niece and one great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Scudder. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Kentucky. Military honors will be presented by the US Army and the American Legion Post 20 from Elsmere, Kentucky.

2, 2023, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born on Oct. 7, 1953, to Carlos James and Bertha Deaton Shous, in Austin, Indiana. He was raised in Blocher, Indiana, and was a 1970 graduate of Scottsburg High School. He was inducted into the US Army on April 4, 1975, in Louisville and rose to the rate of sergeant and was honorably discharged to the reserves on April 3, 1979 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

He served in the US Army Reserves until Feb. 17, 1981. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Air Assault Medal, Sharpshooter Badge M-16 Rifle and the Expert Badge M-16 Rifle. He moved back to the Lexington, Indiana, area and had three children. He began a 45-year career with Burton Lumber as a head sawyer and then worked for EPC Viking Plastics in Scottsburg for two years.

He enjoyed fishing and watching football especially the Cleveland Browns and loved horseback riding with his friends. Survivors include his sons, Michael Shouse of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Jason Shouse of Sautee, Georgia; his daughter, Christie Shouse Smith Holstein of North Vernon, Indiana; two brothers, Kenny Shouse of Paris Crossing, Indiana and Joe Shouse of North Carolina; and five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Carlos James Shouse Jr. and Floyd Shouse. Funeral services were Monday, Feb.

6, at the Morgan Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Interment followed in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. A final salute with military honors was conducted by the Major Samuel Woodfill Madison Post No. 9 American Legion. BY THE COURIER STAFF A Madison woman has been charged with posses- sion of methamphetamine and neglect of two depen- dent children after Madison Police checking on sus- picious activity in the 500 block of Ivy Tech Drive had to administer Narcan and call local EMTs on Saturday. Police responding to the call located Justice Raven Unice Heiderman, 27, Mad- ison, Indiana, sitting on a curb near her vehicle. A report by MPD indicated that Heiderman was and of ficers administered a of and called Norton Health EMS to check on her with Heiderman transpor ted to the hospital emergency room for further evaluation.

Officers located Heider- two small children in her vehicle and MPD Offi- cer Trent Smith was called to the scene along with his K-9 partner Colt to check for drugs. The dog gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics and during a subsequent search, of ficers located drugs in the vehicle. Heiderman was charged with Possession of a Narcot- ic Drug (fentanyl), Posses- sion of Methamphetamine, Neglect of a Dependent-2 Counts) and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicat- ed-Prior Offense, all Level 6 felonies and Public Intoxica- tion, a Class misdemean- or. After being evaluated and treated at the hospital Heiderman was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail without bond. The children were released to a family member.

Elsewhere, Madison Police arrested a local man Sunday on a felony warrant for drug possession and discovered additional drugs while taking him into cus- tody. Daniel W. Steelman 40, Madison, was stopped in the 1900 block of Cragmont Street by MPD Officer Kyle Potter, who observed Steel- man operating a vehicle and knew he was wanted on a warrant. Potter executed a traffic stop and took Steel- man into custody without incident. A subsequent search of vehi- cle discovered fentanyl and marijuana and Steelman was charged with Posses- sion of a Narcotic, a Level 6 felony, and Possession of Marijuana, a Class mis- demeanor.

The outstanding Jefferson County warrant also charged Steelman with Possession of Methamphet- amine, Maintaining a Com- mon Nuisance and Posses- sion of a Narcotic Drug, all Level 6 felonies; Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor; and Posses- sion of Marijuana, a Class misdemeanor.
