Indianapolis more concerned about team's 0-8 record BY CLIFF BRUNT The Associated Press INDIANAPOLIS Without Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark aren't putting up the bigtime numbers they are used to. In fact, the only Colts receiver whose production has gone up with Manning on the mend from neck surgery is Pierre Garcon. He leads the team with 37 catches for 569 yards.

Quarterback Curtis Painter has been solid in relief, but he has been under pressure all season behind a makeshift offensive line decimated by injuries. He said the receivers have. played well, but circ*mstances beyond their control have limited their opportunities. "They're doing a great job, and will continue to do that," Painter said. "It's just a matter of getting the ball in their hands and letting them work like they've always done." Clark and Wayne have been two of the most prolific offensive weapons in the NFL for years.

But halfway through this season, Clark has 26 catches for 266 yards. In 2009, his last full healthy season, he caught 100 passes. "You'd definitely like to be more productive, but given the situation, it's kind of easy to realize that it's not going to be like the past years," Clark said. "You realize that real quick, and you move on." The Colts are more concerned with their winless record. Indy (0-8) hosts Atlanta (4-3) on Sunday.

"Now, the focus is on getting a win, and you 'could care less how many balls you're getting," Clark said. Colts coach Jim Caldwell says veterans Wayne and Clark have remained focused. "Those guys work just as hard, and they're just as dedicated in trying to find ways to help this team win," Caldwell said. "They've been tremendous in their leadership and the role they're playing with our young guys. I think they've been exemplary." Wayne has 822 catches, 11,235 yards and 70 touchdowns receiving in his career.

He is 20th in league history in receptions, but he is on track for his least productive season since 2003. He has caught 100 passes in three of the past five years and for more than 1,000 yards seven straight seasons, but has just 35 catches for 487 yards this year. Another productive player who has slowed down is receiver Austin Collie. He was in and out of the lineup with concussions last sea- L.A. Dodgers headed to bankruptcy cy court auction BY RONALD BLUM The Associated Press NEW YORK Maybe a "For Sale" sign should be erected outside Dodger Stadium.

Team, ballpark, land and television rights available. Price: $1 billion and up. The process of finding a new owner for the Los Angeles Dodgers began early Wednesday when current boss Frank McCourt and Major League Baseball released a joint statement saying they had agreed to a courtsupervised sale of the onceglamorous and now bankrupt franchise. In the long-term, the deal will allow the Dodgers to move ahead and try to get back to baseball's elite. But the club's fans may well have to endure another season adrift as the sale works itself out.

While the sides hope for a quick deal, giving McCourt the money to pay his divorce settlement by April, MLB sales sometimes drag on for six months to years. Once bidders are identified, the court is likely to conduct an auction. "Baseball can choose to have their approval process move like molasses in winter or like Castor oil through a baby," said Marc Ganis, president of Sportscorp, a Chicago-based consulting Arm. The price likely will break the record for a baseball franchise, topping the $845 million paid by the Ricketts' for the Chicago Cubs in 2009. Investors will be solicited by the Blackstone Group, McCourt's investment banker.

Asian investors have made inquiries. Former agent Dennis Gilbert, a friend of Chicago White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, hopes to put together a group. Former Dodgers Steve Garvey and Orel Hershiser have said they might be interested, as has former general manager Fred Claire.

Claire is aligned with former Oakland Athletics President Andy Dolich and former Dodgers batboy Ben Hwang, who brought in the financial backers. Claire, the Dodgers' GM from 1987-98, assumes the price will be $800 million to $1 billion and up. "I've been working on this venture, since early July," Claire said. "My motivation is to see the Dodgers be what they need to be in the community." Given the future broadcasting rights at stake and their ownership of regional sports networks in southern California, News Corp. and Time Warner Inc.

have been considered possible bidders, as could The Walt Disney Co. But News Corp. is out, an executive said. to questions I got today, we're not buying the Dodgers," News Corp. chief operating officer Chase Carey told analysts on a confer-' ence call Wednesday.

"Sports rights are probably becoming more complicated. I think it's just a reality of the marketplace. Outside Southern California, we've got pretty long-term agreements in 1, place. I feel we'll be able to navigate Southern California reasonably well." Real estate companies may join in, given the land the Dodgers own.in Chavez Ravine that potentially could be developed. Massive amounts of bank financing will have to be arranged.
